Family Healthcare Training’s Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Training Program is a 56-clock-hour course designed to meet Oklahoma State Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry requirements and prepare students to take the Oklahoma CMA certification examination.
The course covers the safe administration of medications to clients and residents under appropriate supervision in Long-Term Care facilities, Assisted Living facilities, and other approved healthcare settings. Training includes online lecture coursework, in-person clinical training, skills lab hours, medication administration practice, and additional required coursework.
All CMA courses are taught by instructors who are Licensed Nurses.
How Enrollment Works:
Upon purchase, you will receive an automatic receipt confirming your payment, and your spot will be held in the class dates you selected.
Within 2 business days of enrollment, you will receive an enrollment email containing:
- Your class details, dates, times, and location
- Important information you need before attending class
- Access to the online portion of your CMA course so you can begin your coursework
Online Coursework + In-Person Training:
A portion of the required lecture and “book work” is completed remotely through our Learning Portal at your own pace. There are no scheduled Zoom meetings or video conferences.
You will then attend your 4 in-person Fast Track class days for hands-on CMA training. During these days, you will complete skills training, clinical requirements, medication administration practice, and instruction with a Licensed Nurse.
IMPORTANT Online Course Requirements:
4-Day Fast Track CMA students must begin their online course by the Thursday prior to their scheduled in-person class.
At least 50% of the online course must be completed before your first in-person class day.
If you do not begin your online coursework by the Thursday prior to class and do not have at least 50% completed by your first in-person day, your graduation/final exam will be delayed until the online requirements are completed.
Signing Up After the Thursday Before Class?
You can still enroll if you sign up after the Thursday before your class starts! However, since you will not have enough time to meet the online coursework requirement, you will need to return the following week after your scheduled course ends to complete your final exam once your online coursework is finished.
Your online course must be 100% complete before completing your final exam and graduating from the program.
Completing Your CMA Training:
Upon successful completion of the CMA training program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and a signed and dated Training Verification Form. These documents will be used to take the Oklahoma Certified Medication Aide certification examination.
After successfully passing the Oklahoma State CMA certification examination, the student can become certified as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in the State of Oklahoma.
In person classes are Monday-Thursday 10:30am-4:30pm for one week
Students will complete part of the course online from home. Online work will be set up on students first in-person day.
CMA Admission Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have received a high school or general equivalency diploma
- Must hold a current Oklahoma nurse aide certification or DDCA (developmentally disabled care) with no abuse notations
- Must have six months experience as a CNA
- Must be physically and mentally capable to safely perform duties
- Valid, current photo identification issued by government entity within the U.S. (i.e. passport, driver’s license, school-issued ID)
- Original proof of Social Security number or Taxpayer Identification number
- Verification of Oklahoma current nurse aid certification in long-term care, home health care, or developmentally disabled care
